I’m not a professional woodworker.
I’m a night shift truck driver who got tired of just working…
and decided to start building something of my own.
This whole thing started with simple projects, basic tools,
and a lot of figuring things out the hard way.
No fancy shop.
No big budget.
Just sawdust, mistakes, and slowly getting better over time.

This site wasn’t supposed to be anything big.
At first, it was just me messing around with wood in my spare time —
building small projects, learning as I went, and honestly…
making a lot of mistakes along the way.
But something started to click.
The more I built,
the more I realized this isn’t about having a perfect shop or expensive tools.
It’s about starting.
That’s what SawdustSmarty is really about.
Not perfection.
Not expert-level builds.
Just regular people picking up tools and figuring it out
one project at a time.
If you’re new to woodworking —
or even just thinking about getting started —
YOU are exactly who this site is for.
You don’t need a big shop.
You don’t need expensive tools.
And you definitely don’t need to know everything before you begin.
Here, you’ll find:
- Simple projects you can actually finish
- Straightforward guides without the fluff
- Tips that come from real trial and error
If you’ve ever looked at something and thought,
“I think I could build that…”
— you probably can.
I still drive a truck for a living.
Night shift.
Long hours.
Same routine,
day after day.
And somewhere along the way, I realized…
I didn’t want that to be the only thing I ever did.
So I started building.
At first, it was just wood projects.
Then it turned into this site.
Now?
It’s something more.
This is me trying to build a way out.
Not overnight.
Not with some get-rich-quick idea.
Just one project… one page… one step at a time.
And if you’re in the same place —
working, grinding, wondering if there’s something more —
You’re not alone.
Somewhere along the way,
I realized this could be more than just a hobby.
Not just building things out of wood…
But building something for myself.
This site is part of that.
And if I’m being honest — yeah,
I’d love for this to eventually replace my time in the truck.
That’s the goal.
So, while you’re here learning, building, and working on your own projects…
Just know I’m doing the same thing —
just on a different level.
If you’ve ever thought about turning something you enjoy into something more,
you can read more about that here:
